Waste Station

With the closing of the Kaikohe and Whangae Landfills a few years ago, as well as the Whangarei District Council's Pohe Island Landfill closure in 2005, we have been forced to cart all the Far North's waste (approx 1000 tonnes per month) to outer district landfills.

Wasteworks constructed the Kaikohe Waste Station to enable a commercially viable and affordable way for this to be achieved for our community.

This new state of the art facility enables the compaction of refuse so we cart maximum capacity loads. The trucks carry more waste in fewer trips, saving ratepayers a considerable amount of money.
